Cosmetic necropsy*: delicate gross necropsy to minimize incisions and retain the animal in as presentable condition as possible for burial while attempting to investigate cause of death and presence of disease
* While cosmetic necropsy can often determine the cause of death with minimal invasiveness, in some instances it does compromise diagnostic investigation and may preclude a definitive diagnosis.
Each patient and owner is unique. Call to speak with a pathologist to determine which necropsy service offering best suits the particular situation. Pricing is dependent on the size of the animal and which necropsy service is indicated for the particular situation.

We can provide courier service for most small animal necropsies in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Alternatively, we can also perform necropsies at clinics and hospitals in the Salt Lake Metropolitan area. For clients outside the Salt Lake Metropolitan area, deceased animals can be shipped overnight via FedEx or UPS to our laboratory. Call us for recommendations on appropriate packing (800.426.2099).
If shipping costs for larger dogs are prohibitive, we recommend contacting your state veterinary diagnostic lab to inquire about necropsy services.
While we prefer to coordinate necropsy services through the pet’s regular veterinarian, we will accept necropsies from the general public (we handle the direct communication of results to the pet owner).
After necropsy examination, we can coordinate crematory services (group or private) with Major Street Pet Services.
